HP Digital Entertainment Center
Introduction
HP Digitial Entertainment Center (Models DE100C and DE200C)
are multimedia PCs packaged in an audio chasis. These PCs run Linux as
their
operating system. DEC can store and play MP3 files, play CDs, Internet
Radio
and RealMedia video files. DEC also includes a CD-RW drive which can be
used
to burn audio CDs or MP3 CDs.
New Functionality for DEC
Since HP DECs run Linux, it is possible to add other open source
components
to it and expand the functionality of this device:
- Adding support for Archos Jukeboxes: It is possible to add
support for Archos Jukebox by updating the USB storage drivers. Updated
drivers and other needed files are available here. Unzip
and untar this file at "/" (this, of course, assumes you have unlocked
your dec). The commands to do this are: "cd /" followed by "tar zxvf
/tmp/archos.tar.gz". Run "depmod -a", "rmmod usb-storage", "modprobe
usb-storage" followed by "killall X" and the GUI should restart. Now
when you connect Archos JBR to the USB port, it should show up under
the list of portables. The "portables" menu should allow you to
manipulate the files on JBR and you should also be able to transfer MP3
files to JBR. The updated driver has been tested with Archos JukeBox
Recorder 20. Updated driver may enable support for other Archos players
and other MP3 players as well. If you try this code, you do so at your
own risk. This code comes with absolutely no warranty of any kind,
expressed or implied. This code may or may not work for you.

recording capability
